How long does it take to become a CMT?
The CMT Program includes three exams.
The first two are in the multiple-choice format and the final exam is a grueling four-hour essay exam.
Each exam is offered twice a year, meaning applicants can complete the program in as little as 18 months.

Is CMT exam hard?
Studied hard for the CMT L1 exam in Oct 2013. In and out of the first exam in less than 1.5 hours (of 3 hours, I think) and scored most in the 90th percentile for most subject areas. Pissed I studied so hard for the exam. Relied on Kirkpatrick/Dahlquist book and study guide which has great MC questions.

How difficult is CMT Level 1?
If you have any background in trading, you should probably be able to just brush over the material for level I to pass. It’s incredibly easy compared to the CFA for level I. In fact, if you read Kirkpatrick/Dahlquist from the recommended readingsg cover to cover, that’s all you really need to pass level I.
